For many international parents, the Dutch education system can feel confusing at first: school levels, advice moments, different learning routes, secondary school choices, practical expectations, and the question every parent carries quietly — am I making the right decision for my child?

This workshop is designed to make the system clearer, calmer, and easier to navigate.

Led by Peter Ketelaars, Physics Teacher at Amstelveen College and author of Navigating Dutch Education: The Insider’s Guide, this session will give parents a practical and honest explanation of how Dutch education works, what to expect at different stages, and how to better understand the choices and terminology used by schools.

The workshop is especially useful for international families who are new to the Netherlands, parents with children in primary or secondary school, and anyone who wants to feel more confident when speaking with schools, teachers, mentors, and advisors.

You will leave with a clearer understanding of the Dutch education system, the different school pathways, and how to support your child with more confidence.
